  1. After many months of attempting to get this model into Blender, I have finally managed to get the complete model exported. :D

A few little hiccups but a bit of patching up and she'll be right.

  2. The modelling of this bus is quite complicated. I have been using various 3d modelling software, such as Blender, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk 3DS MAX and sketchup. While i do not recommend to anyone the way i model my buses, I simply model this way to suit my modelling skills. I think it's going quite well so far, and i'm sure you will agree:

Hi guys! I'm new to 'aussiex' but i am wanting to try to create a map of the Gold Coast in Australia for OMSI 2 bus simulator. I currently plan to build the suburbs of Southport, Ashmore, Nerang & Molendinar. I plan to create the following bus lines:

735 - Southport <=> Nerang Station via Ashmore

    742 - Southport <=> Molendinar via Ashmore

    Maps of the routes.

I know the city extremely well but using the OMSI editor is proving to be a challenging task. I have started of on the blank tile map called "NewMap" that comes with OMSI 2 but I have to load all my scenery objects & splines in manually. I ran a search for all the .sco files (scenery files) in my OMSI 2 directory and it says i have 1532 files. Anyone know how to load all theses files at once? Instead of one-by-one. Sounds really stupid but yeah. (I haven't even bothered to look at how many splines i have)

Any help would be appreciated! :D

17 October 2014, Update: This project has been put on hold. Updates will be weekly/fortnightly for the next few weeks.

  3. ....Just like Boris Johnson!

No I haven't gone crazy, I think it gives away what my secret long-term project is....

    Trolley_WIP1.jpg

The Olympics was back in July & August which seems like only yesterday when in fact it was a number of months ago! Which coincidently is how long it feels since I last updated this blog thing I've got going on.

The screen shot was actually taken at least a month ago and I haven't touched the project since then, The main problem I'm having is making it look convincing enough that the poles actually have a purpose as when going around corners they barely touch the wires even set up as AI. Interestingly though following the technical blog that Marcel has got on the official forum it does look like (Very complicatedly I admit!) that more advanced animations are coming in the next OMSI so it might be worth having a look then. Of course, If anyone has any ideas before then please get in touch, I'd really like to get this done for the person who suggested it in the first place smile.png

And to finish off, here's some of my real life bus pics....

The description has to be read for that photo

  5. Dear All,

There are quite a few costs coming up soon for licenses, servers, services etc. that keep OZx running as it should, any help will be appreciated from your end. It is an easy process, just click on the little logo below and that will take you to the Flightsimstore.com which will be taking care of the donation process this time around. The total cost is $1785AUD

I personally thank you for any help you can give OZx !

EDIT: I just got 2 Private Messages from people asking if they can donate more than 'just' the $5

blush.png (which I am incredibly happy with already!) . Yes, you can, there is a dropdown bar on the page you get taken too where you can select other amounts. Thank you all so much already!

    With kind regards,

    Jay Kae

  6. Over the last couple of weeks I have had a couple of brief, and a few very long, conversations with two ex-private pilots (one of which is also an ex-LAME) and a couple of ex-RAAF pilots (one of which was a test pilot and is still an active GA pilot). Basically, I have had a couple of concerns in regards to my flying ...

    - Where is the GA industry going? With the increasing price of fuel (which will get worse with the carbon tax), the increasing age of the fleet and the continual squeeze on small airfields for development or reduced costs, will there be a GA industry in 10 years. More importantly, will there be a private GA industry whereby a private pilot can hire a plane for a weekend and fly somewhere. The general concencous was that it's not going to get any better than it is now.

    - What sort of pilot do I want to be? I will never be a commercial pilot. I am in my early 40's and have way too many financial responsibilities to just give it all up and start again. Given what a low hours GA pilot is paid now-a-days I would do worse than halving my current salary, probably getting close to quartering it. I also don't believe it is practical anymore to fly for holidays. The weather can play havoc with your plans, you have no car at the other end and more than a day aircraft hire without a large amount of flying is not really an option anymore (i.e. you can hire if you want to fly all around the country, but not if you want to go see your parents for a week). Add to that the fact that my wife suffers rhuematoid arthritis and would find it difficult getting into and out of an aircraft, let alone walking to and from one across an airfield and fly really isn't going to be a mode of transport for us. So, I will only ever be flying for fun. The problem here, and this was the subject of my conversation with the ex-RAAF test pilot, is that I don't believe you can safely fly once every couple of months. A low hours pilot must fly regularly (the test pilot reckons fortnightly at least) to keep their hand in. I don't want to be a dangerous, low hours, once-in-a-while pilot.

So, given those two facts, my chats with the above people and a whole lot of soul searching I am going to stop flying. It's a damn hard thing for me to do as I feel like I never finished my licence and I hate to leave things unfinished, plus I am very saddened at not having the feel of a plane at my control again, but I just can't justify the money anymore for some fun and I can't justify the danger level I believe flying irregularly would create.

All is not lost though as I have recently found my interest in fishing again, as some of you may have noticed. I have joined the local fishing club and been along to an outing or two with them and am thoroughly enjoying myself. Fishing is certainly an acitivity where it is more easy to say "hey, let's go fishing this afternooon" than flying is to say "hey, let's go flying". I dare say it is more social too, as I have certainly met a lot more like minded blokes! I did however have to break the news to my wife that I need to buy a four wheel drive as the family camry is starting to suffer under some of the places I want to take it. She was all for it saying she'd feel better with me fishing than flying (I always knew it scared her a bit).

I am now in a strange state of being a little disappointed but confident that I have made the right decision. So, if you have made it this far into my little ramble, thank you for listening.

Well in my opinion, as being a Maldivian as well as an enthusiast in Aviation Industry I would recommend Orbx-FTX company for producing or making a product which will bring the Maldives (one of the favorite destination for tourists) back to life for Virtual Pilots who use FSX (optional X-Plane). Here are my suggestions to include in the package:

    - Covering all the DOMESTIC AIRPORTS in Maldives in realistic and in super shining detail (HD)

    - Covering all the ISLANDS especially INHABITED ISLANDS in realistic and in super high definition

    - Making all the TOURIST RESORTS in super high definition and keeping all the Air Taxi Traffic (TMA and MAT) in super realistic way

    - Keeping land, water and air traffic in realistic and in High Definition

    - Make AIR TRAFFIC with Maldivian (Island Aviation PVT Ltd), Trans Maldivian Air Taxi (TMA), Maldivian Air Taxi (MAT) and all the International Flight Traffics in super realistic way and in High Definition

In a nutshell, this product should be made just like products made for Australia by Orbx-FTX.

  7. Due to low fog that wouldn't clear on the 1/11 lesson 8 was postponed until 9am on 15/11. Conditions were looking fine this time, not to hot nor cold and hardly and clouds about. Did the pre-flight checks on MJG and then came back inside to work out fuel and weight calculations. As I was half way through Joe, the Chief Flying Instructor asked me to hop in EWN instead (I think the owner wants us to fly that one more often, didn't worry me as it's also very similar to MJG in terms of systems and state, and is also powerful). So out I went again to MJG and tied her down and then pre-flighted EWN (Pretty cool paint scheme on her). Once that was done I started her up and taxied to the run up bay. As I just said, this 152 is also very nice, very clean, got a GPS and strobes. However the radio wasn't too good, sounding a bit quiet when talking to ATC. Anyway did the run-ups and then taxied to 17R (Yep, first time I've used a different runway to 35 hehe!). Took off and then headed for the training area (After being careful not to go over the coast or cross 17L, sort of like a tight laneway hehe).

Once we got to the training area my instructor took over and we got straight into steep turns. To start off we did a few 45* turns, which are nothing compared to 60*. Then we focused on turning to headings and landmarks and so forth. All seemed good. Then we got into the hard stuff. The 60* turn. You really feel the G's doing these, and you really have to pay attention to your speed, the bank and also making sure your not descending or ascending. My first one I stuffed up and lost it unfortunately so Tony decided to fix her up by rolling out and then rolling back the other way to get to the original heading. Boy o boy did you feel the G's then, even the stall warning came on. Made me sh!t myself haha. So back on track it was my turn again. This time I pulled off a perfect steep turn so I was pleased (and so was Tony). We then did a few more to the right and then to a heading. Really gotta watch your heading too and pay attention to when you have to roll out. Then we did some were we pretended to loose it and have to recover from it. The first one he did he showed me what happens when you pull back when you trying to recover. Again, the G's almost killed me haha. I got out of mine quickly before it developed into anything bad. Probably not good to do so training wise but if I was put in the situation at least I know I would get out of it quickly :P We then did some descending turns which were pretty easy and then headed back to Moorabbin.

Due to having to use Rwy 17 and given our location we decided to go back via GMH and also do some circuits. Joined the circuit on base but was a bit fast. Probably because I was paying attention to one of Tiger Wood's shots that went high in the air close to where I turn final :D (bit further north of the airport). Coming in on final I was still a bit fast even with full flaps. Flared a little too late which caused me to hit the deck harder than usual and was a bit off to the left but other than that it was ok. Tony commented saying he didn't touch the controls at all so that was something positive that came out of it, the fact that I did it all myself, from entering the circuit to landing.

The next circuit I was a bit wide, and at about mid-late downwind Tony asked if I'd done a glide approach yet. I replied 'no' and so he requested to the tower to do a glide approach. They said 'yes' and so Tony put on the carby and brought the power back to idle, and headed for the runway. The next few minutes felt like seconds. Heading for the runway instead of lining up, no power to help you which means you have to delay your flap and was a bit wide in the circuit. But somehow Tony pulled it off and landed right on the centerline and as soft as a baby's bum, which made my previous set up landing look crap :D There was a 152 waiting for us to land too, I reckon they would have been crapping in their pants as we were headed right for them until the last minute when Tony corrected to put us along the centerline. Was pretty awesome :D Next circuit was a good one, 60 knots, 500ft and full flap on final. Touchdown was a lot better and was on the centerline.

So that was it for lesson 8. Pretty exciting stuff, and now I can't wait for my next lesson. I was also given the info and papers for the 'Single Engine Piston Aeroplane Endorsement'. So a bit of homework to do these holidays, including studying for my pre-solo test.

Oh yeah, found a pic of EWN that I took at the Dawn Patrol...

Until next time, happy flying guys :)

Yeah ! Tomorrow is payday. Hoping to have enough for the Dodo 206. Ground 260 5 yard buckets of wood today for the boss. Thought about flying heli's all day and can't wait for saturday to get here so I can get some flying time in. Plan on flying around the north-eastern islands looking to see if Daydream Spa has been modeled in OzX or FTX ? Anyway, late again and I need sleep as 5am comes hard and fast. Tired of living in motels and really will be glad when I find a freakin normal job that lets me go home to my wife and kids every night. :)
