Hi all,
a warm welcome to the new DC2 support forum. And a deep gratitude to JayKay, who generously offered to host our new forum. Here you can ask all your questions regarding the Douglas DC2 package for Microsoft Flight Simulator, FSX and FS9. As you might know, the Douglas DC2 is a long running project, where the revenue from the sales will be donated to the Aviodrome, Dutch National Aviation Theme Park and Museum. Aviodrome has one of the worlds last two airworthy Douglas DC-2's in their collection. Check their site here:---> Aviodrome Museum and more specific the DC2 site here:---> Aviodrome museum - DC2 (only in Dutch, I'm afraid). The real plane is maintained by volunteers and with the money raised from individual and corporate donations. By selling the DC-2 package we hope to contribute to keeping this unique, priceless and historic aircraft in flying condition. Your purchase will be a very welcome contribution! The package will be sold through the Flight1 system. For complete information on the features of this package and a link to download the Douglas DC2 for FSX please visit the DC2 UIVER site:---> www.dc2-fs.com. Support issues and questions will be handled through our forum. The "UIVER" Team hopes you will enjoy flying this unique, hands-on classic airplane! Unfortunately, the old forum could not be ported to this one The old forum is still available (read only) here: CLICK---> Old Forum<---CLICK Best regards, Rob Cappers "UIVER" Team |

Congrats to the new forum. Thanks jay for doing this
I could not find a section for asking questions. I downloaded the wrapper of the DC-2, but I am not able to execute it. (I actaully did download the file 3 times twice from the official site and also from Flight1 - and still had no success). Double clicking on the file does nothing. What must I do, or where can I get a working wrapper? Thanks Eberhard |

Hi Eberhard,
Welcome Maybe your virus program or firewall is blocking the execution of the file. Try disabling them, there should be no problem with that. I hope you can enjoy the DC2 soon! Cheers, Rob |

Thanks for the welcome!
I reownloaded the file, this time without a download Manager. I have made exceptions for the file in my AV and my firewall. I have also run the file as Administrator. This time I only get a security warning that the publisher could not be verified. When I click Run the dialogue disappears and nothing else happens. This is by means not the first software I bought with the Flight1 wrapper. I have never experienced this with any of the other products. I am stumped. |

Thanks for replying. I tried the file on my work laptop and low and behold it worked! Then I tried it back on my desktop. Nothing exactly the same thing. did some backups and cleanups, rebooted a couple of times and tried again and VOILA I could get it running.
Thanks for your help and you can resolve this one. (Now I just need to buy this baby |

I am new to forums but thought I should post a related problem I have had with the Flight 1 boxed version of DC2. I had no problems loading or flying DC2 in FSX until some while later my AVG virus checker picked up the DC2 utilty file as a threat 'on opening' (the virus checker was not running at the time this just happended automatically) I chose not to vault or delete the file as I assumed it was a false threat. However, when I tried to run FSX at a later date FSX would not run at all (The music played in the background but no FSX menus) . I tried going to previous restore points but could not get FSX to work. In the end I had to completely reinstall FSX and acceleration. to get it working again. I assumed that any connection with a possible DC2 virus was a coincidence and continued to use the DC2 package on FSX. Things were fine for a few months but yesterday exactly the same thing happened AVG spontaneously reported a threat in the DC2 Utility files and when I tried to run FSX early today it would not run. I have reinstalled FSX and acceleration and it appears to be running again but I have uninstalled the DC2 utility as I am now concerened that there might be a problem with it. I am posting this mainly for information to warn other users who may have a similar problem. iIwould welcome any views on whether this is just another coincidence or evidence of a real problem. if it is a problem and anyone has a fix I would be grateful as I would ideally like to ly the DC2 again but feel that at the moment it appears too great a risk for further problems.

Dump AVG
Replace with Microsoft Essentials Problem solved. Why attack the product when obviously it's the anti-virus that needs addressing? |

Hi Mal,
I wanted to reply earlier, but experienced some forum difficulties. I'm sure the problem is not within our product. But, as with you, at some point my PC, and my wives at the same time, was acting up, due to an AVG update. Because both PC's had problems at the same time, I was sure it was the Anti Virus software, so I deleted it on both PC's, replaced it wit AVAST anti virus (also free) and the problems were solved. That, or a similar step, will solve your problems as well, I'm sorry you had to reinstall FSX every time. Still, I'm glad you enjoy the old bird, and i hopeyou will for a long time. Cheers, Rob |
