Hi guys,
I had an idea the other day and wondered if anyone had already tried it. You know how there are no shipping lanes in the gsl for PTO? I wondered if anyone had modified the stock ship spawns using the instruction so that ships don't have to follow shipping lanes. I think it is groundtype=direct but don't have time to check it now - its in the mission sdk.

Anyway, I thought that a rough campaign which I wrote but had problems with, might work better if there were random ship spawns appearing as a campaign mission goal?

Welcome your thoughts,

D

Daiwilletti,

Thanks for working on PTO. I also have wondered about the ship spawns. I think your idea should work and it would be interesting to write a few and see if they would spawn without a "spawn generator". I know it is possible to buld in spanw generators like invisible objects along front lines to generate shell fire and aircraft interceptions.

It would be great to have a campaign in PTO, best of luck with it.

Thanks for your feedback, O-1.
The spawn generator is only needed for mission spawns. In campaign missions, only need to modify the ship spawns files, adding groundtype=direct to the route.
I will give it a go and report back.
PS I am a bit distracted by health issues and am starting chemo next week, but will get back as soon as am able...
PSS The basic campaign I wrote for the orignal PTO and worked fine and got you airborne, but I found that ground targets were hard to come by. Ships did not appear at all. Now that I understand more about how the spawns interact with campaign missions, I think I can get a more "target rich" environment for the basic campaign, LOL. My only reservation is if the campaign.xml will work for v1.54....
cheers,
D

Well I have a campaign up and running, after a few false starts.
It needs a bit of work on peripheral files - I have not yet succeeded to get ships to spawn as a campaign mission target. Can I upload a couple of images? lets see..Nope it looks as if I need to upload to some image sharing website and then link across.

Will look into it when I get the time.

Anyway, I might post something on my recent PTO thread at SOH in the meantime.

cheers,
D
