File Name: Kulmnock City
File Submitter: michael1984
File Submitted: 13 Jun 2012
File Updated: 05 Jul 2012
File Category: OMSI Maps

Welcome to Kulmnock City.
My map depicts the fictional City of Kulmnock and the neighboring suburb of Loch Irvine.
This version contains five routes:
The Original Line 65
Lines 62 and 63 that provide a loop service
Line 60 City Shopper that runs a shuttle service to Whitebank retail village
and S11 that runs a shuttle service to the hospital

Please refer to the document pack included in the download for the readme file (icludes IBIS codes), route maps and other usefull information.

This present version currently contains only a basic timetable with two buses operating each route.
I have included my custom bus liveries.

I hope you enjoy the map and look forward to your comments and suggestions; and indeed any reasonable criticisms.

If you have any issues please post and I will try to help as best as I can.

I would like to thank you in advance for downloading my map and enjoy driving on it

Many regards Michael Wilson

The two shuttles are about 20 minutes to complete the whole route.
Lines 62 63 + 65 about 40 minutes to complete the whole route.

Forgot to mention what liveries the routes use:
Route 60: Bus SD79 / Livery Wilsons Shopper
Routes 62 63 65: Bus SD80 / Livery Wilsons
Route S11: Bus SD87 / Livery Hospital

Obviously you don't have to use these buses if you don't want to

Great work on this map! I just drove a "familiarization" run on the 65 from Whitebank to City Centre without passengers. First the good things. The canal is priceless. I drove by really slowly to get a good look. Your bus liveries are spectacular. The blue and yellow "city shopper" is a masterpiece. I also like that you weathered the SD200's, so that they really look to be sorely in need of a paint job. The scenery is well placed and balanced, with a good transition from the downtown area to the suburbs. Extremely well done.

I know this release is a "beta" and therefore unfinished, so there isn't much to be criticized. The AI cars that approach Canal street from the side streets seem to just drive right through "helter-skelter", without regard for other traffic. So maybe give Canal Street high priority over the side streets. And, at first glance some bus stop helpers are a tad confusing, They seem to be placed over the center line of the street rather than over the bus stop itself. But this is not a bad thing. It just takes a bit of getting used to seeing them there. Overall, this is a superb map and I can see it will be one of my favorites. Great Job!

Finally, unrelated to the map itself, but rather to the installation. I'm sure it's an oversight but, you have the map and the two bus folders directly in the OMSI folder. So if an unsuspecting newbie, simply places the OMSI folder in his "m-r software", he won't find the map when he boots OMSI. You need to place the buses in a "vehicles" folder and Kulmnock in a "maps" folder inside of the OMSI folder. I had no problem with this, but a newbie may well be lost. The scenery objects is fine.

Thanks very much for the feedback and kind words. I'll have a look at the traffic rules on Canal Street; and sort the folder structure.
As for the route helpers for bus stops, I have done them differently from the norm. If folk would prefer them placed conventionaly I will consider changing them.
I think theres a route helper missing on the 62 at whitebank so I'll need to add that; and I think theres a minor issue at the hospital bus stop.

Had a drive along the hospital route, very nice, although the traffic in the town centre was horrendous! (I have my AI cars turned up quite high...) I ended up 15 mins late, mostly from the traffic, although some was from attempting to squeeze through the huge gap down the middle of the traffic... I finally ended up at the hospital 20 mins late Posted Image I did notice that there were 4 entry points, one of which is blank, and starts in a depot, of which the scenery still needs placing around, I presume this is the last 10%? I will certainly be playing this again, although I may tweak with a few things, and turn down my AI cars!
EDIT: Just remembered, I have a problem with the Wilson's SD77... the Sd77_02 texture is white, i.e. corrupted :( I don't know if this is an issue with my installation or with the download... anyone else got this?

@ Road hog

I have the Sd77 Wilson's problem with texture, exactly the same as you said. I think it is an issue.

Will have a look at that roof. I tend to play with quite a low amount of traffic due to my laptops specs. but I can inagine a few of the junctions would cause trouble :)

Not to sure, my laptop is fairly low spec and as I long as I have the settings turned down it generally runs ok.
Sometimes I get a bit of lag in the city centre depending on what mood the laptop is in.

The roof works fine for me; so it seems a bit odd that others are having trouble with it. The only thing I can think of is I saved it a DDS in paint.net rather than use the convertor.

Fabulous map Michael, it offers a relaxed driving along a very beautiful city. I didn't have much time to drive it but I really enjoyed my trips on S11 and 60.
I found some very small issues, but they don't harm any part of the gameplay at all.

There is a small typo in the destination matrix when going to the Hospital, it's written as 'Infrimary', and there is another one in the Shopper repaint, it's written 'Westbank Reatil'.
In Route 60 departing at 10:10am from Westbank, the last stop arrival time is set to 10:10 as well, but the intermediate stops are timed correctly.

Great work mate, congratulations!

Hi, downloaded this and just done a quick run, and it's a great map, love the area around the bus station and the canal especially. I also like the Scottish - German blend in the map as it gives it a unique feel. The only error I can spot is the cti file error on the SD80 the cti file references 'SD80_02_Wilsons2.dds' which should be 'SD80_02_Wilsons.dds', which is only a small problem. Thanks for the great map.
