Female Engish Voice Pack - Beta 0.1 release

Here is a beta version 0.1 release of the Female English Voice Pack, created by Ritcheaze.
These are completely raw, unimproved audio files, recorded by Ritcheaze. Unfortunately the recorded audio quality is very low. But the voice acting is excellent!
They are released as an unofficial mod at this time - try them out and see if you can live with the quality.
IMPORTANT: This pack REPLACES the female voices within the "Berlin_1" TicketPack
MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR OMSI \ TICKETPACKS \ BERLIN 1 folder, before running this installer.
Please note that I did not produce these voices and can not offer support for them. I am merely uploading them on behalf of RITCHEAZE.
I do have a suite of advanced professional audio processors, so at some point (no promises) may be able to restore and significantly improve the quality of these recordings. However due to the number of individual WAV files involved this would take days and days, and hence I cannot yet envisage having the time to do it. But maybe, one day.

Cheers on behalf of Ritcheaze.

Quick question, your installer is just an unzip program right? I'm asking since I choose to install it onto my desktop so I could testrun it.
It's a basic installer which unzips and places files in the location you select / verify within the installer, yes.
So yes, it is probably a good idea for people to create a new empty folder on their desktop called "Temp", then run the installer and when requested, set the installation path to that "temp" folder on your desktop.
This will install the WAVs into that location, so you can review them and decide whether you want to try them in your OMSI, and if so where and how you want to use them. (There are several ways of using them including overwriting the default the female voices within the Berlin 1 ticket pack, or, setting up a new ticketpack, with these voices, and then editing your map(s) to use the new ticketpack.

Good acting from the lady, a pity they didn't use a better mic. You can hear the lack of range but i think that with a bit of equalizing and some compression this can sound much better.
Yes, it sounds like it's been recorded at 8 bit, and probably 11kHz sample rate. As a contrast (not to show off, just a contrast) my Male English Voice Pack is at 16 bit and 44.1kHz, so big difference.
Compression will help raise the level, which will be good. EQ I am less hopeful for, as the fundamental high frequencies just will not be there to 'boost' in this type of recording. However a psychoacoustic process, such as 'Exciting' (the adding of HF harmonics) may add a touch of the 'sparkle' that is missing in the top end.

16/44.1 is good. With al the new digital recording equipment i mostly use 48000 or, when recording multitrack, 24/96000. My Zoom R16 (portable digital multitrack recorder) can't go lower.
There is a tool (mostly used for recording and mixing meetings and conferences) which will elevate the voice. I don't have it myself, but i know someone who has it. It's maybe worth a try.
This sound files needs some boost on the lower and higher end and that will be difficult.
Oops, a little bit off-topic i'm afraid.

Most of the material I get into my Mastering business is at 24 bit and 48kHz (which is actually the sample rate used on DVD format) or 96kHz.... but if people want their master to play on CD / Windows Music Player / iTunes / etc, etc, it has to be truncated to 16 bit and 44.1kHz as the 'red book standard' that ensures all CD players and PCs around the world will play them. (Eg. WMP requires a codec to play 24 bit files). The exception being audio that is mastered for DVD which needs to be mastered at 16 bit, 48kHz.
I have literally dozens of compression an limiting algorhythms that wil reduce the dynamic range of the audio WAVs in this case, thus allowing the overal level to be lifted. But time is the limiting factor rather than equipment, software or plug-ins.
But if anyone else fancied having a go at raising the level or otherwise improving the WAVs that would be cool!

I really liked it, the quality didn't affect my enjoyment of it. I have just a question: what does she say in the 'Thank you' sound? Maybe is it a slang or something for 'Thank you'?
I think on one she says "Taa laaaa!" ..... "Ta" being slang for "Thank you" and "laaa" being a slang version of "lad" which is used in the Merseyside (Liverpool) area, and some parts of Lancashire, as a form of endearment, similar to 'mate'

Thanks mate, one more expression to my vocabulary, I would never guess that by myself.
