[REQUEST] Line 30, Tampere, Finland

Question

Posted

Hey,

(sorry for my english) I have been playing OMSI since summer and its very great game! Im not sure if this is allowed to ask, but..

Could someone make map from my homeroute? Its located at Tampere, Finland. Tampere is a 400 thousand people city in the Western Finland. Im requesting for the bus line I use, its line 30.

It operates between the Center of city and the farthert city district, Hervanta. Hervanta has many apartment houses, most of them built in the 1970's. The route is about 12 kilometres long. Line 30 takes about 30 minutes to drive, and it has 28 bus stops. It goes between the living district of Hervanta, centre of Hervanta, then it goes through 2 roundabouts and reaches long road, which passes Lukonmäki district and Turtola shopping mall. Then it goes little hill up to Messukylä, where are many row-houses. After that, it goes near the Tampere-Jyväskylä railway, near Järvensivu old railway station. Soon after it reaches busy Viinikka junction. Then there is stop at the university and bus station, and finally it reaches the Tampere center, where is cobblestone road. There is the terminus of many local bus lines, called Keskustori bus terminal.

Here you can see the stops, timetable and map. In English too smile.pnghttp://aikataulut.ta...line=30&lang=en

I cant do this myself, because the editor is very complicated and hard to use.. Much easier is to use Auran Trainz editor, lol.

Here are some pictures (none of them are mine):

I can even pay 2€ to someones Paypal, but I really want to have this for OMSI! grin.png I can give more details by PM, good pictures can be found from Google street view, or I can go to photograph myself too. I dont need very good quality to the map either! yes.gif

I would encourage you to try dealing with OMSI Map Editor. It's definitely not difficult as it seems! The great variety (and quality) of maps is a proof of that. You should give it a try - the Editor Manual that comes with OMSI explains very well since the first steps. Obviously making maps is a very time consuming task, but it is worthy!

I would really appreciate to drive in a Finnish map, consider my advice and give it a go (again, in case you've already tried) and experiment with it a little. After reading the first pages of the manual, open the Grundorf map and try to edit it a little. I would say that is really easy! wink.png

Something I can do, but the biggest problem is how to create timetable and get passengers in. I managed to add 3 bus stops, helpers etc, but I have no clue what are the tracks, trips etc.

Ok, well if you could create the map, with the required roads, intersections, and all scenery (and also place bus stops), I would happily activate the bus stops for you, and create the required TTR, TTP and TTL files to get AI working and timetables working. smile.png

But you would have to invest the work first, to create the scenery and roads. wink.png

Ok, thanks! Few questions..

How to connect splines to others? I dont really understand grin.png I mean that I have one intersection, which is object, then I have one big spline. Theres empty space in the middle, how do I add there a spline so it looks good?

Is there any tool where I can count the distances so they would be like real?

No load all option for splines? sad.png

Elias, you won't be able to get people to explain everything required to make a whole map, on the forum wink.png .... trust me, that just won't work.

Do as Thiago suggested and open the OMSI Editor PDF doc and follow each step - it explains how to join Splines, right there in the document.

Basically;

- Load a new Spline, on the right side of the Editor (make sure you are on the 'SPLINES' tab, then press 'load',

- Press 'N' (for "new") in the editor to make a new spline,

- Press or nudge it towards the 'ends' of other existing Splines on the map (must be a compatible type!), and they will "auto-join".

- Press "F9" key to rotate splines if they have auto-joined at the wrong sides.
