File Name: NL202 Texture.zip
File Submitter: SteveB
File Submitted: 05 Jan 2012
File Updated: 03 Feb 2012
File Category: OMSI Utilities & Mods

About
Having tried to get the NL202 bus running on a lower spec PC I have rescaled some bmp's and changed the file format of the repaints to .dds.

the biggest change is the removal of the engine and suspension animation. This has made a huge difference to the way the bus performs.

I have found that this mod now allows the NL202 to drive without stutter etc. I have even had it running as AI (I could not do that before without the maps really struggling)

Added cti fixes to use the rescaled dds files (cti fixes.zip)
You need to download both files. (they can be installed in any order)

More info in the readme.txt enclosed

Great job Steve!

I've been trying to get the NL202 running smoothly for a while now, but with no success... This, however, works an absolute treat!

Thanks very much!

Hi Zige,

I have lowered the entire texture folder to 131 Mb from the usual 393Mb.
Most of the saving is in the Repaints_NL202 folder by scaling the bitmaps and saving them as dds files, although there were a couple of large masks in the texture folder that i also shrunk down a bit.

On the whole it has to be a balance between quality and file size, I've compromised as much as I can and I think the files are as good as the default repaints shipped with OMSI.

Thanks Steve!

This really improves the lag, but does not completely eradicate it for me unfortunately.

Also I get jumping buses with the NL202.

So gutted as all the SD200's and SD202's work fine, i've yet to find a single decker that works for me, and with the NL202 I thought i'd found it.

@ Steve: Thanks much. This definitely helps a lot. The bus is still problematic on the new Berlin Spandau map, but that's the only one so far.
@ whizzbit: Have you tried to AI with the MarcoPolo? It works like a charm for me.

Now updated to v1.2

The main change is the removal of the engine and suspension animation.
This has made a huge difference to the way the bus performs, a must have...

this mod now allows the NL202 to drive without stutter etc. I have even had it running as AI (I could not do that before without the maps really struggling).

Amazing job mate on this one! For me at least, you've turned the NL202 into something that's actually as drivable and responsive as the SD202s, whereas before this mod, it sat idle (and considerably 'overweight') in the depot!... Thank you! :)

Fantastic, Steve. Worked like a treat for me. Now I can play it with heavier maps. Many thanks!

Whoaa!!!! Just tried your latest V2 ... and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! ... V1 already made a great difference but V2 makes this bus LIGHTENING FAST for me now Posted Image Posted Image .......... and I think I only ever looked at the engine animation once anyway. It was nice...... but not nice enough to hog the bus down like that....

Superb work....... I recommend anyone who uses the NL202 on lower spec PCs, or those who run maps that have the NL202 as AI (like Newcastle Pro, with the custom AI List version) to grab this mod f'sure!

Mucho Gusto!

I'm still here, but taking a back seat, due to real life workload, and Mr Drive is doing a great job of managing the forum. smile.png

Hi Steve, hoping you can help - I really want to get this bus usable.

Managed to install the first version of your mod fine but really want to get it up to this 2nd version.

Have tried doing clean install of the NL202 and now applying the mod, but everytime I've tried am getting the following error:
Posted Image

Can you or anybody please help!! I believe I'm following all the installation steps ok =(

Not seen that error from anybody else.

Have you tried deleting the whole folder for the vehicle and re-installing, what happens at this point....does OMSI start and the NL202 load.

If ok then re-apply the mod.

Yep, tried that I'm afraid. Deleted all NL202 stuff, reinstalled the Nl202 and it has no errors. Then as soon as I overwrite files with your download the error comes up.
