  1. New Australian Mesh

Too often we are on the lookout for the next greatest thing when it comes to Flight Sim and the ascetic appearance of the Simulated world. Every now and then, something new comes along that really does make a visible difference to world in which we fly. Its not often that I tend to make product endorsements as flight simulation is such an individual satisfaction vision. Lets face it there have been some significant changes to the sim over the past 25years and one of those changes was the introduction of high quality mesh. For years I have flown with only the freeware mesh provided by ORBX and that has been very good and satisfied my requirements, but that was up until very recently. There have been many new products come onto the market for Flight sim, all Claiming to be next greatest thing and sometimes really missing the sale and marketing mark in terms of the reality of the product. Well one such product that has surpassed its marketing, has really made a difference to my Flight Simming experience. The product is from the team at OFX Australia and reinvigorates your flight sim world with its 10m Mesh terrain data for Australia. From the moment you install it and begin flying, you absolutely notice the difference and for me, get a wow factor that I have not had in years for FSX in particular. OFX Australia Evolution provides you with a new realistic 10 m precision mesh of Australia covering the 7.692.024 km² of the country. Compatible with many other products such as ORBX « Australia » photoreal, airport and more... This scenery changes your flight experience and realism in the region. The screenshots don't even scratch the surface of the scope and expansion of this scenery. Free Bonus : OFX New Zealand and Pacific island Evolution. (you will receive it via email after purchase) Also included :New caledonia and islands of Australia. Features :7.692.024 km² of Mesh (10 m precision) 18.576 km² mesh of New Caledonia (10 m precision) Mesh of all islands of Australia. Some city and other customisation added with landclass (Lord Howe island, New Caledonia, Tasmania...) Included 6 packs of OFX Australia. FPS Friendly. I done some initial testing in and around Far north Queensland, as I like to fly out Cairns for its high quality scenery, but also you have the best of both worlds where the country and mountains, meet the city and the sea. Such an amazing combination. The Screenshots below do not even begin to scratch the surface. My FSX system is setup with all sliders maxed out and I am still getting minimum of 30fps. When I installed and loaded the OFX Australia Evolution Product, I found the installation was very easy, was self activated and there was a zero frame hit. Here are some screenies.. This is ORBX Cairns Airport Scenery with the Free mesh, still looking very impressive. Take off and start cruising to the North and you can see the stunning scenery that is all around you. After Adding the new 10m Mesh, the difference was amazing. Real Definition was now added to my Flight Simulation platform. Cruising around the Cairns Region. I just love it and its such a wonderful place to fly. To me, it feels like a new dimension has been added to my Flying experience This really does look way more realistic to me and feels more real as well. Ok so I really wanted to explore what else had really changed in this part of the world. Excited I jumped into my F-111 as I didn’t want low and slow anymore, I wanted to explore this new world extremely fast and low level… Yep there were some very expressive non repeatable profanities mentioned when taking this flight. Wow check out the difference… Never before have I had mountain ranges with such definition. Look at that horizon. This is just ridiculous, never had or noticed this level of detail before.. Whilst not shown here, I also flew the whitsundays and whilst we have had Ant's amazing Hamiltion Island Scenery, most of the Whitsunday Island bunker group were either flat poly textures on the ocean or were elevated very little. But I am happy to say that the Whitsunday Island bunker group stands out beautifully now.. Very Impressed.. No I just need to get some really good PR from Nearmaps and it will be perfect. I don’t want to show you everything, or I may spoil it for you. These screenshots don’t even scratch the surface of the amount of changes I have in my FSX world. As with anything new and this good, there is always a price… Understand that an enormous amount of work has gone into this project and many Man hours that the developers will never get back, so you can expect the price for something this good to be a whopping $20.10!! That’s nuts I tell you, $20.10 for this wow wow wow… So now where to get it. Head over to the FlightSim Store, purchase online and download or Give them a call and tell them that Gazza sent you.. If its awesome, its at the FlightSim Store.
  2. Hi, I thought I would post here about a post I read over on the ORBX forums about a new freeware mesh for Australia available at simviation. Apparently it comes in 8 parts. I have not tested this myself, although I will be soon, I'm just re-posting the information here. ORBX post: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/88471-30m-australian-mesh/ Simviation link(s): http://simviation.com/1/browse-Terrain+Mesh-64-1 http://simviation.com/1/browse-Terrain+Mesh-64-2 Cheers,
