  13. View File A2A Lockheed Constellation OE-IFE Aero-Transport This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Wings of Silver Lockheed L-049 Constellation. It shows OE-IFE, a L-749 of Austrian Charter company Aero Transport Flugbetriebsgesellschaft - Formed early in 1958 in association with the West German charter company LTU, charter flights were initially carried out with Vickers Vikings and one Dove on holiday destinations in Europe. In June 1961, an ex TWA 049 (OE-IFA) was bought and this joined the Vikings on IT and general passenger charter work, particularly from Vienna to the Mediterranean resorts. Falcon Airways tried to lease the aircraft in the summer of 1961, but had considerable challenges obtaining permission from the British aviation authorities. In 1962, a 749 Constellation was purchased from Korean Airlines, becoming OE-IFE, and a further 749 Freighter in May 1963 (OE-IFO). World-wide passenger and freight charters were flown by the aircraft, and the Connies were the first aircraft to show the Austrian flag in New York, and Tokyo in July 1961. The former owner of Falcon Airways, Marian Kozubski acted as Constellation chief pilot until troubles began when one of their Connies was grounded at Djibouti in November 1963 after alledgedly being used for gun-running. Subsequently, OE-IFA was impounded at Vienna early in 1964. OE-IFE was impounded at Schiphol, pending the payment of fuel, landing and other service charges. The company ceased all operations during 1964. OE-IFE was eventually scrapped at Schiphol. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by A2A.
