  1. Thought-provoking Article

A great read. I can really identify with what the author is getting at here. During the 2000-01 period our hobby went under a major transformation. FS2000 was heavilly panned when it came out. (it ran like an absolute dog on most middle of the road computers of the day - mine included) but compared to fs95/98 it was like going from 2d to 3d - so many possibilities and with mesh scenery for the very first time it all seemed so real. During this period a lot of clubs came out of the woodwork, some of which I was involved with on a management level (ociania sim, simzdownunder and in 2004 VirtualVFR. Yep we had amazing growth in that period and I remember our membership jumping from hundreds to many thousands in what seemed to me like a few weeks. We would have freeware sceneries and aircraft turning up in the library often on a daily basis - I know this because I was the one who got to post them to the site! But gradually the interest weaned down to a smaller group of hard core hobbyists. And it seems we've turned a corner yet again and a good gauge of this is the number of downloads that turn up at Flightsim.com daily.... I've been simming since the late 80's ... long live the best hobby in the world. (apart from golf that is!!) Cheers Steve
  2. Freeware and Payware

I recently got the Caranado ArcherII, nicely done Steve
  3. Thank you Anthony Lynch

Great aircraft Anthony... as every bit as enjoyable as the A2A Cub and I'd say that this is the difinitive Tiger done for any version of Flight Sim. I love that you can hand start her... the only way to start a Gypsie Major! Cheers Steve
  4. Video featuring Hutchie's Field

an excellent video Mark ... enjoyed it a lot cheers Steve

  8. I got exactly the same PM this morning as well. "TREND" immediately identifed the link in the message as a serious threat.... I deleted it on the spot. Cheers Steve
  9. Hutchie has died from a car accident.....

this was a terrible and needless loss of young lives .... my thoughts go to Hutchies family at this time. Steve
  10. Nord 3202 (freeware) at Khancoban (YKHA)

top shots there ... this is indeed an excellent little aircraft which I have really been enjoying lately... some aus repaints would be excellent hint hint !! Seriously, this aircraft highlights that freeware aircraft are not necessarily inferior to payware... cheers Steve
