  2. Help For a GMAX Newbie!

Just a thought make sure there are no missing textures, ie light masks or other, sometimes when the models are batched in modelconvX and there is a missing LM in the sim they can display as transperant even invisible. Check thought all the material settings in GMAX and make sure you have all the needed textures - maybe ?
  3. I do blend masks in GIMP regularly and no problems, first do your blend mask work in layers and save as a psd or xcf (gimp native format), for future changes. Then within the GIMP pull down menus use the image flatten option (under image tab) and flatten it, convert to grey scale using the same image tab and then save as tif. Works fine normally, no need for extra programs
  4. Alternative to photoshop

GIMP is very good, very powerful, can handle images in almost any format, has heaps of add-in scripts and filters, easy layer management. You can save as photoshop files as well, and its totally free - a good buy
  5. GMAX building interiors

Handy Ian - gonna try that way. The other option is to boolean cut the inside, clone your shed shrink it slightly and pull down base to cut out the floor as well (if you want to). You will also need to boolean out the door openings too, messy way I think now I like Ians method better
  6. Easiest way is using the cut option, it puts a new vertices at the edge where you cut it (It can help to select a polygon, lock it, then select edge and do cuts - gmax cut tool is part black magic), ignore backfacing is a must and even then sometimes it will cut the faces behind, just check your work as you go in wireframe mode, so you can see cuts. I tend to cut in one window and have wireframe in perspective on another window. You can add vertices but they will not be attached to your mesh, you will need to attach them to the mesh after adding them, tricky to do and much longer than cuts.
  7. Budget joystick

I use the saitek evor force feedback - good stick but worth $$. b4 that had a saitek av8r and it crapped out after 6 months! Had a logitech attack b4 that and it was good and a cheap price. Plenty of joysticks on ebay
  8. Happy birthday hcornea

Happy Birthday Ian - enjoy your gmaxing
  9. Ant's Airplanes Releases Tecnam Sierra

What a fantastic plane. I have been waiting for something like this for ages, great quality, great handling, for me it's a winner all the way very very happy today :-)
  10. Airstrips in S.A

Sounds like Hunt Field (YHTF) it is also shown on the VTC chart for adelaide. Not much there except the few hangars, no markings on the runway. Some nice aircraft IRL including a lovely boeing stearman which sound like an absolute beast when it's going :-)
  11. OZx Wins A Flight Sim Award!

Thats pretty damm cool well done to everyone :-)
  12. Pine Gap NT

One of the air traffic controllers at Alice Springs told me it is not about people being able to see Pine Gap, you can see it clear as day from anywhere nearby. What they dont like is planes flying over the restricted zone as it interferes with the data capture and costs them mega bucks to re-sync all the sattelites. Seriously you could sit in the hills around and use binos and see pretty much everything. However overfly the area and land at YBAS and the ever friendly feds will probably be there to meet you as you taxi in
  13. VH-TKE

Aw man that is mighty fine and I love this a plane, cruising at 180 kts without even thinking . Thanks steve cant wait to take it for a spin love the double edged lines, your skills as a painter are very evident on this. Even more than the Mooney this is like a sports car!! Imagine the Cessna152 is your Corolla, the 172 is the Commodore and this mighty fine looking thing is the Nissan GTR, so fast is scares you
