  1. OZX Homepage

I like your idea Prof. A homepage to tell what we're all about seems a good idea rather than getting through to a list of available repaints. Cheers Tony
  2. BananaBob in trouble!

I did 9 1/2 hours at double time and a half New Years Day so I've just chucked a bit into the pot. Cheers Tony
  3. What's the 'enb' thingamejig John?

  5. Top Secret. Do Not Look!

Geezz Ant, If that's your first effort then all i can say is "the sky's the limit" !!!!!
  6. Foster Brooks the airline pilot

The old Deano was a great entertainer wasn't he!! "Everybody loves somebody sometimes...." Haven't seen this for years ! Thanks for the link Kris. I don't know, or really want to know, if the old Deano was sort of permanently pissed or just acted that way. Either way the old "Dean Martin Show" was great entertainment. Cheers Tony
  7. I've had problems like that from time to time. Can't explain how or why because I just don't know but sometimes added IS models just disappear (and reappear when IS is opened) Seems to just cure itself. Maybe something to do with caches ?? Cheers Tony

  9. I was cleaning up my files and re-discovered this It's a great example of maintaining a cool calm and collected state of mind in an emergency situation. You might have to watch it a few times to notice how all involved, Captain, co-pilot and ground controllers maintain proper radio procedures and confirm intentions, give and take information etc. and how this ends up in a quite un-fantasic landing and proceeding to gate after a bird strike on takeoff to a 2 engined aircraft that takes out the starboard engine, a real nightmare situation, results in, probably, a few complaints about delays but keeps everyone alive. Cheers Tony
  10. That's Jurgis Kairys Butch.... Jurgis Kairys (born May 6, 1952 in Krasnojarsk, Siberia in Lithuanian family deported after Soviet occupation) is a Lithuanian aerobatic pilot and aeronautical engineer. He has won many awards for his flying and has invented several maneuvers, including the "Kairys Wheel." He helped develop the Sukhoi Su-26, -29, and -31 aerobatic aircraft, and also has manufactured his own aerobatic aircraft, called the "Juka." His most famous stunt is flying inverted under a pedestrian bridge (height 7 meters) over the Nemunas River wash in Kaunas on September 2, 2000, (nicknamed Ultraflight). He also flew under all bridges over the Neris River in Vilnius on September 18, 1999, (nicknamed Flight of the Century). Fairly safe for him but not recommended for the majority. There are heaps of his videos on Youtube. He can make his aircraft do things you wouldn't think possible.
  11. Would FTX/REX2/FSX Run With This?

When you get your new system up and running, I'd suggest turning off your FPS counter and as long as it looks good and doesn't have stutters don't bother turning it back on. This is the true test of how well your system is working. Much more important than FSP Cheers Tony
  12. BOONAH! beta version

Brilliant Ant!! - Only one suggestion, change the name to "Release" instead of "Beta" Brings back memories of my Boonah effort for FS9 Cheers Tony
  13. Active Volcanoes in Australia!

It's all to do with tectonic plates as shown in this... By tony_a All these plates are what current science widely accepts are deep in the Earth's crust and constantly rising up and down and pushing against each other - this is on a timescale of thousands and millions of years. We get a volcano when a weak spot gives way. This can happen almost anywhere, anytime. There are no instruments that current science has to really get down there to get the data and then consolidate and analyse this data - so - "Don't Worry, Be Happy!!" as the old song says. Much more important things to worry about that you can control!! The media seems to just pick up on a comment from a scientist every now and then and put together a "story" or news item that might excite the viewer/listener if they embellish it a bit. Cheers Tony
  14. 1st model

I've never made a model but this looks like something I'll definately get into when I retire in a few weeks time, as well as getting back into scenery work again. Great detail there and the sort of thing I used to while away hours on. I used to carve things from scraps of pine boxes when I was a kid. Once carved a Bowie knife that I painted with bits and pieces from old paint tins at home under the house. I was pulled up by the local copper who wanted to know where I got it from etc. and "Hand it over." When he realised it was not the real thing and told that I'de made it myself he just shook his head, gave me a look and then gave it back with a "Don't go jabbing anyone with it." Cheers Tony
  15. Active Volcanoes in Australia!

More reason to lose sleep if you lived in any of the pink areas on this map, mate... By tony_a at 2009-09-21 Predicting volcanic activity is pretty well a guessing game that no-one looks even remotely near perfecting in the near future. Cheers Tony
  16. Is anyone else having trouble staying logged in?

Only started to happen with me tonight !! - Never had this problem before today ????
  17. A Queensland joke

A genuine joke from Queensland It is well known that humor is regional, but this is the first joke that I can say is truly Queenslander: At a national conference of the Australian Hotels Association, the general managers of Cascade Brewery (Tasmania), Tooheys (New South Wales), XXXX (Queensland), CUB (Victoria) and Coopers (South Australia) foundthemselves sitting at the same table for lunch. When the waitress asked what they wanted to drink, the GM of Tooheys said without hesitation, "I'll have a Tooheys New.." To which the boss of Coopers rejoined, "I'll have a Coopers, the King of Beers." And the bloke from Cascade asked for "a Cascade, the cleanest draught on the planet." The General Manager of Carlton & United paused a moment and then placed his order: "VB." The head of XXXX smiled and said "I'll have a Diet Coke." The others looked at him has if he had sprouted a new head. "Well," he said with a shrug, "if you blokes aren't drinking beer, then neither will I."
  18. Your best bet to get started is to go here, http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=annotator&FileName=&Author=luis+&CatID=root and download Luis' guide to using Annotater. Annotator is a pretty clumsy sort of thing to use but you shoulde be able to at least get started with this guide. Cheers Tony edit: You may very well have problems downloading from the Avsim library. I've just checked and the file is also at Flightsim.com Just search for "Annotator" Cheers Tony P.S. Don't hesitate to ask questions here as you get used to it. It can be a difficult thing to use until you get used to it
  19. Hello all

Likewise, good to hear from you Rob. Cheers tony
  20. All I want is a cup of coffee

Jack, Ian forgot to mention that scenery design is also highly addictive once you get into it and can lead to loss of sleep, problems with the missus and/or kids, hair pulling (if you've got any left) and some other rather nasty anti social behaviour. Cheers Tony
  21. I'm excited

That's great news to hear Pat. Have a great day! Cheers Tony
  22. Just dropped over to Avsim and clicked the Library button and was surprised to find the library is now back. I did a search on my name as author and all my old stuff, back to Oct 2002, was still there!! I don't knaow if they lost anything in the restoration of the library but this looks encouraging. Cheers Tony
  23. Happy Birthday

Don't stay up too late!! Happy birthday JayKae
  24. resample not working

What programme are you using for editing your .inf file? When you're editing don't use the TAB to line things up, use spaces. This could be the difference between the 2 files. Cheers Tony
  25. resample not working

If you're not using a Blend or Watermask file or Seasons or Day & Night, the inf file below should give you a .bgl that should put your photoreal scenery into the sim. [source] SourceDir = "." SourceFile = "ra_yluw_su.bmp" Type = BMP Layer = Imagery Variation = All SamplingMethod = Gaussian ulyMap = -34.0116885991084 ulxMap = 115.059814453125 xDim = 2.14576721191129E-05 yDim = 1.77848602837399E-05 [Destination] DestDir = "." DestBaseFileName = "PhotoYLUW" DestFileType = BGL LOD = Auto UseSourceDimensions = 1 CompressionQuality = 85 This could be handy first up to see what needs trimming when you make your blend and/or watermask tiffs. As you add day/night seasons you would have to go back to the multi source version and also change the Variation to the 4 seasons for day and the one for nigbt. There's very little difference between 100% & 85% in the final .bgl quality but a big difference in the size of the .bgl Cheers Tony
