  1. I have requested and received permission from ORBX to make videos such as the following. I have ORBX AU enabled in Prepar3d v4.2 and my 15m Imagery based scenery with an LOD such that you will see ORBX AU at lower levels and my 15m imagery show more as you climb and the reverse when descending. At the lower altitude at the beginning of the video ORBX is obvious with the autogen and high resolution textures showing. In the distance you will notice the imagery mountains. There are times when you cannot differentiate the two. This principle was utilised by FS Altitude several years ago. The benefits of this method are that you can have higher realistic resolution scenery for lower flights and real scenery in high er cruise altitudes. Both sceneries taking up much less HD space than high resolution imagery based scenery and at a much lower cost.
  2. Hi Sue, Scott explained it very well. Here is a "rough" video showing the principal and the "hole" below the aircraft. The underlying scenery in this case is Prepar3d v4 default. The two types of scenery do match match as close as ORBX textures. The scenery is more suited for airline flying.
  3. I have re-sampled my 15 NT imagery that I have purchased to an LOD that will leave a hole under your aircraft. At lower altitudes you will see your higher resolution generic scenery. As you climb you will see more of the imagery scenery until at a high altitude you will only see the imagery scenery unless you turn with a steep bank angle or fly inverted. There will be times when you will see both scenery together and depending on how close your generic scenery colours are to the imagery is how much you will notice the difference between the two. The scenery is great for domestic airline flights. Take-off is great from ORBX Alice Springs then land at Ant's Darwin. If any Aussiex members want a copy, please send an email to [email protected] with your Aussiex username and I will send you a download link and install instructions within a short time. The size of the scenery file is only around 3GB to d/l. I am hoping to complete the whole of Australia. I have made inquiries for high resolution PR. 1m imagery for Victoria for instance could cost around $800,000. 2.5m imagery around $200,000. Thus the 15m option unless I have a huge Powerball win. Imagery scenery North of Alice Springs. Looks like around 12,000ft. During the climb, both
  4. the wet

Great pics and video Matt. Beautiful rain! I wish we could have it down in Sydney atm. Dry as a bone down here. I can't remember when we lst had rain that wet the ground. Cheers, gibo
  5. Victoria 15m PR

Here is a video that I made flying the IRIS PC-9A around Victoria at between 18,000ftand 22,000ft from memory NSW is available now from here http://www.gibsonsceneries.com/ at the moment and "Flightsim Store" and "PC Aviator soon". Victoria should be uploaded by tomorrow. I have the imagery for Tasmania and will produce that state next. If there is enough interest in this type of scenery I will purchase Queensland next. The benefit of this type of scenery is that it is "real" and does not take up massive HD space and the price is low compared to high resolution which would cost more than tonight's Oz Lotto (NSW) to purchase the whole continent. It is designed for en-route flight above medium altitudes but I have found it acceptable lower altitudes in a fast aircraft. Happy New Year to all. gibo
  6. Victoria 15m PR

Bassman, as far as I know it shows in the Academic version all the time but not the Pro version. You don't notice it after a while. Cheers, Gibo
  7. Victoria 15m PR

    Another couple.
  8. Victoria 15m PR

I have almost finished the Victoria coastline. I have kept a couple of shallow areas as PR rather than "water" for visual effects as shown in the first two screenshots. Cheers, gibo
  9. Here is a video featuring the IRIS Simulations PC-9A departing Williamtown RAAF airbase (default scenery) and a flight around NSW. Accurate flight and navigation was not the goal of the mission. I ran out of fuel at one point and refueled mid air. Background ATC is only for effects and may or may not be accurate for the actual area. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79PcGiqcMf8&list=UUTVfXV1mQyPwcsO6f-eQRJw Merry Christmas to all, gibo
  10. YSRI - RAAF Base Richmond N.S.W.

    Wow!. Looks great. Cheers, gibo
  11. NSW-VIC-TAS Imagery scenery

Here is a short demonstration video on how low is acceptable for lower resolution scenery. The flight is over rural areas in a fast tactical jet. This type of flight does not require autogen as what you see are "real" features. PC performance is excellent, actually better than default scenery with autogen enabled. Cities obviously require tall buildings for realism. The video is a flight in an F-35 north of Williamtown RAAF base where Australia's first F-35's will be based. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNRhdhWkuj8&t=19s
  12. Vertigo Studios (their website is back online!)

Andrew, The Panther is one of my favourites and the movie, "Bridges of Toko Ri'" featuring the Panther is one of my favourite movies. Here is the VS Panther in a short video and the VS Spad in a short test video that I made.
  13. I have "bit the bullet" again and purchased 15m imagery for the above states to enhance en-route above medium altitude flights. Here are a few early screenshots. Northern NSW east to west. Default sometimes in background (Prepar3d v4). I hope to release NSW and maybe Vic by Christmas. It will be available at the Flightsim Store, PC Aviator and FS Pilotshop. Cheers, gibo
