  1. Hello all It's been a while since I've posted anywhere. Probably because I've been busy doing updates for my various aircraft. The latest to get updated is the Trojan T28A. This is a donationware aircraft (please donate to aussiex if you enjoy the plane). It also serves as a demo for the payware T28B/C and T28D aircraft. I have just released the version 3.00 update for the T28A as a public beta. This way I can take advantage of people power who can test it out and let me know if there are any bugs or problems before I finish doing the same update the the B/C and D. At the moment I have done all the same work for the B/C and D models. I really just need to make the installer programs for those versions and check for any bugs. Download directly from my website (148MB download). www.antsairplanes.com/downloads/AntsT28AV300BETA.zip The zip file contains two installers, one for the aircraft and one for the weapons AI models (bombs and rockets). I decided I need to make a separate installer for the weapons as there was a possibility that multiple models could be installed which causes an error in the sim. This was most likely possible if you chose to install outside the program folder of P3D v3 or P3D v4. The main new things are compatibility with Prepar3D v4, VRS TacPack compatibility and I've made the T28 compatible with the sound system I used in the CAC Winjeel which I think provides a better representation of the engine sounds than possible with the FSX sound system. Here is a list of all the nice new features: - Installer is now compatible with FSX, FSX:Steam Edition and Prepar3D up to V4. - VRS TacPack compatibility for the Attack model (note that VRS TacPack is a 3rd party weapons system and may be purchased separately from VRSimulations. TacPack is not compatible with P3D v4 at the moment) - New custom sound system for more accurate engine sounds and more user control. The user can choose to blend exterior sounds with the interior sounds - Improved Animation Manager with new systems section - Larger mouse clickspot areas and improved click behaviour - Middle mouse click on any control to open the Animation Manager to a page describing that control - New camera system improves external inspection. It also allows the user to set a custom eyepoint and zoom position. The user can also choose to fly from the rear seat in the dual cockpit model - Improved engine auto start routine - Improved and simpler handling of the throttle, mixture and prop controls inputs - Added option to always load the aircraft in a cold and dark state - Changed method of saving aircraft wear and tear data - Added additional key commands to control carburetor air control - Added option to set a joystick button as the fire button in Attack model - Added push back mode for moving the aircraft while on the ground with engine off - More accurate fuel consumption rates - Improved engine pressure and temperature modelling - Fixed issue with FSX:Steam Edition where bloom effect was causing black squares in the Attack model. - Improved shared cockpit compatibility Note that TacPack is not P3D v4 compatible yet. Also note that the bomb generated by TacPack is the 500lb and not a 100lb bomb as used in the T28. I have given the model for the 100lb bomb to VRS so they can include it in their next update of the TacPack so when they do that I will need to update the T28A again to use the 100lb bomb.

    The option to have the pilot visible is mostly if you decide to fly from the rear seat in the Dual cockpit version (note that the Solo and Attack version, while you can sit in the rear seat, don't have working switches in the rear). You can then have the pilot in the front seat blocking your view just like in real life. In case you haven't found it yet there is a hidden click spot in both cockpits that switch you from front to rear. It is in the top left of each panel just above and to the left of the gauge in that position.

    TROJAN T28A NOW AVAILABLE Thanks to everyone who helped with the testing I have just uploaded the completed T28A which can be downloaded from this page (150MB in size): http://www.antsairplanes.com/trojan.html I have also uploaded the T28B/C and T28D version 3.00 installers for the retailers to update their files. THIS WILL TAKE SOME TIME so don't expect the B/C and D to be available right now. I don't know how long it will take for the retailers to update their files, I can't control that, plus some of them are probably asleep at the moment as they are on the other side of the world. I could be tomorrow, it could be next week. The best thing to do is sign up to receive update notifications if your retailer allows this as the retailer will then email you when it's ready. The new installers for B/C and D will be 349MB and 225MB respectively. While waiting for the update to filter through why not fly the A model instead? If you haven't got the B/C or D yet then they have new lower prices ($14.95 AUD) I will update the files for the T28A on the aussiex and sim-outhouse sites later today or maybe tomorrow. Next up for me is updating the Drifter for P3Dv4. After a rest. BTW, does anyone know how I can change my signature in the forum? I've been through all the options I think I can't find the right one.

    Hi Jorge I've made a patch (it's less than 1mb size) which should help diagnose the problem. www.antsairplanes.com/downloads/AntsT28AV303patch.zip Open Animation Manager Select Animations tab and go to the second page At the bottom of that page set the debug mode to 44 Open the main panel (shift+1) On the far right there are eight CTEMP parameters The CTEMP7 parameter will show what the last rudder/elevator input type was. This is usually 1 for me CTEMP8 parameter will show the value of that input. Operate the rudder pedals to see what you normally get for CTEMP7 and CTEMP8. Wait to see what happens when you get a rudder hard right. Make a note of CTEMP7 and CTEMP8 and then change the debug mode to 43 and note all the CTEMP parameters and then let me know what they are. CTEMP1 and CTEMP3 in debug mode 43 will tell me if the aircraft thinks it is spinning (these should be 0 in normal flight, 1 when spinning)

    Here is the latest update for a the A model beta. Same as before, download is called V300 but the installer inside the zip is V302. http://www.antsairplanes.com/downloads/AntsT28AV300BETA.zip Changes made: Fixed oil refill in maintenance Fixed other issues with maintenance including oil consumption rate Made changes to the rudder processing to hopefully prevent hard rudder at unexpected times Made changes to the wheel chocks to only allow them to be applied when stopped (hopefully will fix aircraft being frozen in place) Made changes to model for nose wheel steering (I've found that P3D sometimes doesn't get the suspension working properly when you first land which was causing an issue with the animation of the nose wheel steering) Fixed issues with the left/right push aircraft commands and made the whole system more robust I think this version also changed the taxiing push, you shouldn't need as much rpm to start rolling, about 1200rpm should get you moving Improved attitude indicator power behaviour. If you cut off inverter power the attitude indicator flag should come on - remember the AI needs inverter power to operate. David, the B/C/D models are not ready for release yet. I am still working on ironing the bugs out of the A model at the moment which is why I am doing this public beta, to get the public to help find the bugs that I miss. Only when the A model is working properly will I release the B,C and D models. I should point out that the main C++ gauge used in the A model is identical to the B,C and D models as well so if the A model works then the B,C and D should work properly too.

    Yes Jorge, I saw the oil temp and pressure. That's what happens when you don't have enough oil, the temperature goes up and when temperature goes up the pressure goes up. I'm working on another update which should be ready tomorrow (Friday) as I don't think I paid enough attention to the Maintenance section. There's a few other things too which I had to work on like the aircraft push.

    Forgot to mention, the aircraft will also freeze if the wheel chocks are in place. Again, the T28 should clear the wheel chocks if it is in the air but if you are taxiing and turn on the wheel chocks it will freeze the aircraft when you stop.

    Hi Jorge Seems like I haven't set the right values to refill the oil level. Off by a factor of 10 it seems. The rudder kick is probably because the plane thinks it's in a spin. I will check this to see what's happening. The no taxi is probably related to aircraft freeze I do. This is done when on the ground and parking brakes are on. In theory, applying the brakes should be enough to unfreeze the aircraft. I will look at this as well.

    Hi All I've just updated the beta. It is available for download from the same place: www.antsairplanes.com/downloads/AntsT28AV300BETA.zip The installer name in the zip will be AntsT28AV301BETA though. The changes are: Added "Mute sound on lost focus" option in the sounds page. This works for the custom sounds in FSX and P3D. Set this to match your setting in the P3D sounds options. As some sounds are still using the default sound system (ie wind sounds, gear touchdown) then you may not get all sounds still being heard if you don't have the FSX window in focus. Fixed issues with the engine starter button causing hanging sounds and other problems Fixed issue with the rockets giving a little push to the aircraft when launched under some circumstances Fixed issue with the VC fire buttons on the joystick not working. Pressing any of these buttons will now act as fire button. I'm just going to spend the next week or so fully checking everything over making sure stuff gets all installed to the proper locations etc and if everything is OK I can release the T28B/C and T28D updates. They all use the exact same gauge C++ so that makes development rather easier. All I have to do is run the installer programs the make the installers for the new versions.

    Hi David I tried extending the mouse zone for the flaps handle a bit but there is a lot of stuff down there (the A model doesn't even have the supercharger HI/LOW handle). 1950's aircraft aren't known for their ergonomics and indeed the flaps handle can be hidden by the throttle. After many crashes to desktop I've added an option to the sounds settings to mute the sound on lost focus. It wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be but I was needlessly making it complicated by stopping directsound and restarting it which was causing crashes, turns out the function to read the sound files handled this situation just fine by itself with very little changes. This works in FSX as well as P3D and can be changed on the fly, it does cause a little sound dropout but that can't be helped. Like I said though I can't read this information from the what the user has set in P3D so the user must set this to match whatever they have in P3D. I made a note of that in the manual. I've also made a few changes to the starter switch, there were certain situations causing issues with sounds and getting the starter switch out of sequence. I'll probably upload an updated T28A beta tomorrow. I'm just compiling the installers now.

    I've had a look at this. As far as I can see there is no way for me to know if the "Mute sound on lost focus" option is readable by me (ie it is not available as a variable that any gauge I make can be read). So while I could, theoretically at least, set the sound system up to continue playing when the window has lost focus (by default it mutes when lost focus) it seems I can't read how the user has set that option in P3D so I'd need to add a separate function to my sound setup to do this. If the Winjeel is continuing to play sounds it's possible that you have set either the internal or external sounds of the Winjeel to use the default sound system? I've checked the Winjeel myself and it behaved like the T28 and it continued muting the sound even with "Mute sound on lost focus" unticked on my system. I think I will just add a note in the user manual about the mute sound on lost focus function. Or if I'm feeling lucky I might add the option in my sound setup. It was so much easier when you only had to develop for one version of FSX.

    Thanks Jorge. I didn't know about that option in P3D. I will check it out and see what's what. The rumble sound is most likely wind noise, this is still handled by the flight sim sound system. - Andrew, simmarket is usually the quickest to release the updates. They usually do it within a day (assuming it's a work day).

    That's interesting Jorge. Like I said, the sound should mute when P3D is not the active window. It's something I have no control over as Windows does this automatically. So I wouldn't expect the Winjeel to keep the sound playing at all especially as it uses the same code as the T28 and it's not something I have heard of happening.

    Do you mean if the P3D program window is no longer the active window? It will mute the sound (not something that I do, that's just the way directsound works) and the Winjeel does the same as well.

    This is for the T28A model. It is has always been free to all users although it is encouraged that you donate to aussiex or sim-outhouse if you enjoy using the T28A. The T28B/C and T28D are payware (and still will be). They will soon incorporate the same changes as those in the T28A. The V3.00 update will be free to all existing users of the T28B/C and T28D.

    Version 1.21 available This patch should be the last patch. There are no significant changes over 1.20, only a couple of minor tweaks. I have updated the demo version as well to 1.21 so you can download the new demo installer for the latest version of the demo model. I have just sent links to the retailers so the full version 1.21 should be available in your account with your retailer within the next few days. The patch should be installed after installing the full retail version (the patch will not work for the demo model, a new full version will be released shortly for the demo). Basically though, whatever version (V100 or V110) and with whatever patches you have already installed the V120 patch will completely update it.     The tail wheel steering is not saved as it is dependent on the tail wheel lock position. When the aircraft loads it will always be free castoring as the aircraft will always load with tail wheel lock off, that's just what FSX does. The easiest thing to do is quickly pull the stick all the way back and the tail wheel is locked (which gives tail wheel steering). I recommend changing the steering angle back to zero if you want to fully simulate the Winjeel (and to be able to use the free castoring and steerable tailwheel ) but that's up to you. I'll look into seeing if I can store the last used position and set the tail wheel steering based on that when the aircraft loads.

    Hi Jorge Been a while since I've posted here. Due to a complete and utter lack of competence on my part I stuffed up the sounds and throttle. The patch V1.10 fixes these issues. The patch is available from here: http://www.antsairplanes.com/winjeel.html Most of the retailers should have the V1.10 full installer available now so if you prefer to have a single installer you should be able to redownload from your account with your retailer. Now, to install the Winjeel into P3D Simobjects I suggest the following: Uninstall the existing Winjeel. Rerun the installer program and select Prepar3D v2.x as the installer type and then set the install location manually to the Prepar3D V3 folder. Do the same for the patch if you are not using the V100 installer and not the V110 installer. This will work, I did this during testing and you will not lose any functionality at all as the P3D v2 and v3 versions are mostly identical. Only the gauges are slightly different to account for the different sound file locations. This will put the Winjeel into your Prepar3D v3 Simobjects file structure so Linda should be able to read L:vars.

  23. Well, the day is rapidly approaching when Australia's newest commercial airport will start operations. On Nov 17 Qantaslink will start flights to Sydney. On Sunday 28 Sep 2014 there will be an open day at the airport.     One usually has to erase them which is a fair bit of work. Making airports is a lot easier when there are no aircraft parked there.
