Many people that use this site are probably not aware of these facts. In the beginning (the 1990's) there was Jaykae.. A man with high computer skills and a love of flight simming. He it was that operated and ran the system that allowed we simmers access to a place to discuss our beloved hobby.. and to develop the sim via many great addons. Jay carried the cost of the tech side of things personally, and over the years he was the one that ensured that Ozx survived. I have no idea of the amount of money Jay put into Ozx, and to some extent Orbx, but I do know it was huge. In recent years he has asked for help, and we are proud to give that help. Thank you Jaykae. without you simming would not be the same.. Teecee.

Hi all, Some of you may or may not know of Vertigo Studios?! For quite a while they were creating some incredible aircraft for FSX (and had a few rippers in the works). A while back things weren't looking too good and as far as I know, the studio pretty much closed down. It's been a while since I swung past the Vertigo Studios Website (http://www.vertigostudios.co.uk/). For a while now it has been in maintenance mode, but it is back up and running now with a slight revamp by the looks of it, they now have their own online store. I noticed that there was a 30% off sale for Halloween but it appears that has ended, still, it looks like their whole range is on sale, so if FSX is your sim of choice feel free to head over and check out their online store, you just might find yourself a new aircraft for your hangar! Not to mention I think they need as much support as possible if they are getting back up and running with development. With the emergence of P3D it is unfortunate that the range isn't available to that market... Maybe it's in the works, I don't know...

I thought that plenty had been said about Jay and his support for OZx (unwavering under the (orbx in lower case) let down), but I cannot remain silent and not express my total gratitude for the fantastic service that you Jay have provided along the years ...Teecee and Terry's words are expressing all our gratitude... THANK YOU... Jorge

Absolutely. Well said Teecee. I installed OzX sceneries before I installed any other addons when I first got in to FSX years ago. It was so amazing and continues to be. I have known from the start that Jay has been the upholder and supporter of this (and other) forums and it is so much appreciated. Who knows where we would be without OzX. Whether it is as a scenery developer, repainter, modeller, visitor or contributor to the forums, or any one of us installing the amazing downloads on our PCs, we should all be grateful we have OzX to turn to. Cheers,

    NSW-VIC-TAS Imagery scenery

I have "bit the bullet" again and purchased 15m imagery for the above states to enhance en-route above medium altitude flights. Here are a few early screenshots. Northern NSW east to west. Default sometimes in background (Prepar3d v4). I hope to release NSW and maybe Vic by Christmas. It will be available at the Flightsim Store, PC Aviator and FS Pilotshop. Cheers, gibo

That's great. I have a few of their products and they are fantastic. I actually have a box set of their warbirds which is (shamefully) still unopened. I do regularly use their F6F Hellcat and TBM Avenger though, and have done for years. Good to see they are back on the scene. Cheers,

    Roma Airport

Just to add to Scotts info...any photos need to be square on to the building of possible to make the texturing of the buildings easier. With ORBX revamping AU next year, I am a bit reluctant to take on too much until we know if the OZX stuff is still gonna work.

    Roma Airport

Hi there, I am really curious to know whether anyone would be happy enough to do an airport for us all please? Its Roma Airport, it is located south west of Brisbane. Currently Qantaslink fly all of there Dash 8's out there to and from Brisbane and Charleville. The airport is also a base for a couple RFDS B200's and a Careflight Bell 412. It would be really great if someone could do this airport as it is known as "the busiest regional airport in Queensland" having 100+ arrival and departures each week.

Not true OZx is a by product of FTX AU, Orbx never relied upon OZx and in fact they cut all ties with OZx a few yrs back OZx was formed because of a fall out between 2 people, then it grew from there and eventually shrunk from there a few yrs later Its only for a small handful of loyal and dedicated developers that this place remains alive as majority of the former devs here went over to Orbx and never returned Even today many Australian Orbx forum users dont even know what OZx is or what it has to offer in downloads, once FTX went global the interest for OZx sadly diminished. If FTX AU2 goes photo real with updated airports, there could be a very good chance there will be very little interest for this place(excluding the bus sim guys) especially if OZx pre ftx au2 is incompatible fingers crossed they dont go that way otherwise a lot of hard work will be lost

To be honest, looking at the way Orbx has marketed Australia v1, they have indirectly relied on OZx freeware to supply the extra airports to make the region really interesting (and it really is interesting for VFR). Now, for Aus v2, they are going to have to either make a whole heap of airports themselves for VFR, or they are going to have to piggyback off OZx again. I just wish that Orbx would at no cost help the community speed up the completed development of OZx for P3D version 4. That way they would be able to market Aus v2 as probably the most amazing region ever created for ESP sims and without having to add a lot of development cost on their end - and they would get browny points with the community to boot. It would be win-win for everyone. Should I post this on Orbx forums? Cheers.

It shows Douglas DC-4 VH-PAF in the colors of Pacific Air Freighters. VH-Paf was originally delivered new to the USAAF as 44-9126 on May 14, 1945. It transferred to the USAF in 1947 and was Withdrawn from service and stored at Davis Montahan, Arizona - December 1971. She was sold to Dross Metals in 1975 and entered onto the United States Aircraft Register as N9013V.She then flew for several companies in the US until she was seized by Bahamas authorities for alleged smuggling activities in April 1981. On arrival at Majuro some problems associated with Number 2 engine were worked on before departing for Honiara. During this leg Number 2 engine began to play up so it was shut down in flight. As the problem could not be rectified it was decided to carry on to Cairns as planned on three engines. She was ferried Cairns - Brisbane (Archerfield) on three engines in june 1995 and entered onto the Australian Aircraft Register as VH-PAF on January 31, 1996 She commenced long term contract with Goroka Air Service, Papua New Guinea - October 14, 1996. Nothing to do with wisdom Noel, simply a matter of personal choice..That's the beauty of simming, your choice of where to fly and when. I love Aus, even more so now I am away from my spiritual home, but several hours flying alone over desert or similar terrain does tend to be boring. Thank the Lord for mines and cities and all the Ozx addons I say. (and bring on the new Orbx). Teecee.

View File Flight Replicas Douglas C-54 NL-302 This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-54 / DC-4 by Flight Replicas. It shows Douglas C-54A NL-302 of the Netherlands Government Air Transport, 1945. This was originally 42-72274 of the USAAF, which was bought by the Dutch Government in 1945 in a batch of 14 C-54's. These were converted to carry passengers. Although the aircraft were carrying military markings, they were in fact carrying passengers for KLM, among others to the Dutch East Indies. Since civilian aircraft were not always permitted to fly along this route immediately after the war they wore military paint. In 1947 all aircraft were transferred to the KLM and NL-302 became PH-TAD. It later flew with several European comapnies with registration F-BDRJ, before being scrapped in 1965.
