  4. The OZx airfield launcher is an application that has been made to help the OZx community be able to start flying from any OZx airstrip of their choice and encourage proper navigation from that point.

Virtually all OZx Airstrips, like real world airstrips, don't have NDB, VORs or even ICAO codes. The pilot is expected to navigate using traditional navigation. The OZx philosophy encourages this, but it leaves it difficult to start from wherever you want as most of our airstrips do not appear in the FSX airport list.

CASA, in their recently released "Flight Planning Kit", gives a summary of why it's never a good idea to use a GPS as a primary navigation source. An excerpt:

"Another CFI mentioned being in outback Queensland, and talking to the pilot of a light twin who had flown there from the east coast with no charts, relying on a GPS 'He was only a battery failure away from being totally lost,' the appalled instructor said.

Planning is important because it constructs a four-dimensional picture of the flight in your mind. You build the foundation of your situational awareness. To follow GPS prompts is to do exactly the opposite. Now situational awareness resides in a machine and you merely follow its directions."

The application has the functionality to provide distance/bearing information from the current aircraft position to other OZx airstrips. For information on how to navigate using distance/bearing (it's a great way to fly!), see the following link:

THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED 'AS IS', AND NO RESPONSIBILITY IS ACCEPTED FOR PROBLEMS CAUSED BY OR ATTRIBUTED TO THE USE OF THIS SOFTWARE. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

THIS APPLICATION SHOULD NOT BE USED TO SUPPLEMENT REAL WORLD AVIATION.

  6. The OZx Migrator tool now gives you the opportunity to enjoy Ozx in Pepar3D.

This tool will link up your OZx installed scenery in FSX to P3D. It will also install some core files into P3D for the scenery to display correctly.

Installation is easy, just run the tool and it will link up your OZx scenery and make the correct config entries for it to appear in P3D.

Remember that OZx has been designed to work with FTX, so ensure you have that setup in P3D as well.

Many thanks goes out to Ed Correia and Friedi and of course Orbx for supplying us with this awesome tool!
