I've been looking for new textures for my Cessna 337, the best ones by far are the ones Ive found on this site. So my other half is out shopping this Saturday, so after I have been to the new sports club for an assessment and work out (I've just had a birthday my 56th - but I need to stay in shape (really?... maybe not) anyhow thats the morning taken care of so after a workout where shall I fly to? I have kids who know how I love my flight sim so yesterday I received a collection of OrBx Australia, airfields, red, gold etc... and set to putting it all in last night. I have a 2tb drive purely for my flight sim so I was particularly looking forward to flying over the Gold Coast from Caboolture to Brizzy (I drove from Ipswich to Byron Bay once and my partner wouldnt let me stop at Cabo for a visit so it was nice to see a good version of it on FSX) I was on hols in Oz for 3 weeks and met up with my sister for the first time in 30 years in Brisbane, I sadly am a pom who would love to be an Ausie but I'm a bit too old to up my roots now. Anyway I digress.. I'd seen a clip on you tube for the 337 flying out of some airfield in Oz somewhere so I'm thinking shall I do that and explore Australia VFR stylee? or fly around the Med for a bit. I must admit I did'nt and still dont reckon FSX scenery is as good or as versatile as FS9, but its getting there and you do have to pay for it. some of the freeware is good but misses things. I remember going on the Brisbane river and seeing a floating chapel on the water near the main highway bridge out of the gold coast, there was a helicopter pad on the left of it and on the right was a rather large Australia Fare hypermarket(?) these nit-picking things come to mind when you look at scenery until you remember that it only a facsimile of the area and that a level of accuracy that we see wont be possible on pc's available today. I'd love to put these things in to the scenery but I cant even get get FSX Acceleration SDK in and get it to work because my FSX is on drive X not the obligatory C:\zzzzzzzzz! (you know what I mean?) There is a guide on you tube on how to correct it by a young lad who sounds like he cant be assed to explain it slowly so he reads through it like the world is going to end soon before we all get to understand how to do it. I want to slap him but protocol tells me I cant do that, so I slow the vid down using VLC, no... still no clearer, so I fail spectacularly and wait for someone to sort it out for me. I wont hold my breath. So I will imagine I will see these landmarks in the scenery the next time I fly. In the meantime I can always watch the SDK vid over and over again and maybe something will stick.

By the way, if you have the Carenado Cessna337 which I love, Soleluna-Tristan's red bull texture is just one of the best textures I've ever seen and I've been doing FS since 1982-ish with version 1 for the apple! (yes Apple!) I can recommend it and hope a lot of people can recognise how good it really is.
