It's The Pitts

I recently downloaded an aircraft from a new developer - IcarusGold. I am always nervous when trying out a new developer because there is no 'relationship' in place. I feel comfortable buying from Iris, Realair and Carenado because I know the level of quality to expect; but a new developer hasn't earned my trust. Still, it is hard to find new experiences if you don't stretch the bounds a little.

I have been looking for a new aerobatic aircraft to use in FSX for a long time. The superb little Christen Eagle II from LIC worked beautifully in FS9 but unfortunately the model didn't translate well to FSX SP2.

In November, whilst trawling the FS sites on the internet, I came across some images of a Pitts Special. I was intrigued after visiting the developers website and forums so summoned the courage to lay my money down. I must admit to not being disappointed. The aircraft is very torquey, screwing the body around the prop as you increase the throttle. Judicious amounts of rudder and aileron are required during the takeoff roll and the aircraft is very twitchy in flight. It took me a couple of days to get used to the idiosyncrasies of this model. I have seen postings from pilots of the Pitts stating the developer has the handling spot on for this biplane.

Low and twitchy is back; and it is oh so good.  thumbsup.png
